Puppet Junction

Dalí Project

The Dalí Project (working title) is Puppet Junction's latest project, a full scale puppet play about the artist Salvador Dalí.  Being developed by Serra Hirsch and Sophia Remolde, the hybrid-play is still in early stages of development and has presented excerpts at Dixon Place's Puppet Blok and the Voice4Vision Puppetry Festival at Theater for the New City, as well as being a part of the 2010-2011 St. Ann's Puppet Lab, where it performed another excerpt in June 2010.

The piece has taken inspiration from a previous Puppet Junction piece, Sleep/Sommeil, developed by Serra Hirsch and
Matt Jackson in 2006 and performed at the famous Charleville-Mezieres International Puppetry Festival in France.  As a part of the St. Ann's Puppet Lab, The Dalí Project has been hard at work since October 2009 and presented its third excerpt of the piece at Labapalooza: Mini Festival of New Puppet Theater from the Lab in June 2010.  You can see some excerpts of the work in progress (Scenes 2 & 3) on YouTube here.

The Dalí Project will be presented as a full-length play in 2011, so be sure to join our mailing list on Facebook or follow us on TWITTER for regular updates as we continue to develop the piece. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to help us move forward, please visit our fiscal sponsor, Dance Theater Workshop and click on "Donate a sponsored artist" on the right hand side.  Puppet Junction is listed under Serra Hirsch in the left column.  We thank you for your support!
